The WAL Principle
Water-Assisted Liposuction (WAL) is based on a pulsating, fan-shaped water jet that gently detaches adipose tissue while simultaneously aspirating it.
Unlike traditional liposuction techniques, infiltration and aspiration occur at the same time. This allows for controlled tissue separation while preserving surrounding structures such as vessels and connective tissue.
The continuous irrigation supports precise removal with reduced mechanical trauma.
During the procedure, tumescent solution is delivered through the cannula while adipose tissue is aspirated in the same step.
This dual process:
- Reduces the need for high infiltration volumes
- Minimizes tissue swelling
- Improves intraoperative visibility
- Shortens procedure time
The reduced fluid exposure contributes to gentler tissue handling.
Harvested fat is collected in a sterile, closed system such as the LipoCollector® 3 or FillerCollector®.
Key features include:
- Collection of up to 1,000 ml of fat tissue (LipoCollector® 3) 
- Automatic removal of drugs such as local anesthetics and adrenaline 
- Residual fluid reduction to approximately 15% 
- No centrifugation required in many workflows 
This enables immediate preparation for fat transfer.
The WAL procedure typically follows structured phases:
- Infiltration using gentle water-jet

- Removal of excess fluid
- Extraction of injectable fat suspension
